Within the project, Nominal will provide its full-stack satellite simulation products to project partners to validate an advanced multi-sensor space camera for Earth observation. This innovative project, a collaboration with Leonardo, Spiral Blue, and The Australian National University (ANU), aims to enhance disaster resilience, and land management capabilities through high-speed image transmission from space.
Our involvement in this project underscores Nominal Systems' commitment to taking simulation beyond “dots in space” to provide deeper insights and assurance into system functionality. By leveraging our simulation and hardware-in-the-loop design tools, we ensure seamless validation of the space camera functional performance with the rest of the satellite bus.
Leonardo: Provides advanced shortwave infrared detectors, capable of imaging through clouds and detecting heat, bringing unparalleled sensitivity to the project.ANU: Develops the Rosella processor, which serves as the central computing unit, ensuring robust image processing and data management.Spiral Blue: Integrates its SpaceEdge AI hardware with the Rosella processor, enhancing image processing capabilities through advanced AI techniques.
Nominal Systems' contributions will facilitate the verification of a "ready to fly" space camera/telescope, with ANU further qualifying the hardware for spaceflight. This collaborative effort paves the way for commercialising a space solution with high-speed data communication and remote imaging capabilities.
